What Did Diana Do?
Diana d'Andalo was the daughter of one of the most richest and most powerful families in the thirteenth century.
She asked permission from her family to join the sisters of the order of the Dominicans (Preachers),
but her parents said that they had other plans for her, so they refused.
Diana was angry so she went to join them anyway and she was welcomed into the order by Saint Dominic de Guzman.
Unfortunately she was forced to stay home. She then later escaped and ran away to join the Augustinians.
Her brothers were sent to find her and take her home. Diana put up quite a struggle and was injured in the abduction.
She had to stay home nursing a few broken ribs afterwards for a few weeks.
Eventually Diana was allowed to join the Dominican convent of Saint Agnes.
She died in 1236 and was beatified on the 8th of August 1888.
